Born and raised in New York, Marcy Masterson studied interior design, and decorative arts on the local university and then in Italy. The career of Masterson began in 1980’s, after she started to work for Valerian Rybar & Daigre, McMillen Inc. and later on – Johnson-Wanzenberg.
She would remember those times fondly: “I was going to Europe every forty-five days it seemed and I would buy all these amazing things. As soon as we found something it was sold. It was a question of do I give it to you or do I give it to you? The budgets were vast and the projects were vast. “. During that time, Masterson developed keen eye for architecture and following 1997, she set her own company.
Masterson is known for great diversity of the furniture used in her designs, from Eastern Bloc vintage or 18th century Italian antiques. Hampton’s Cottages and Gardens magazine praised Masterson’s style, saying that ” Though her interiors may be based on Russian Neoclassical, slick Modern, or Nantucket American, all are carefully researched, intellectually focused and user-friendly “. She draws inspiration from her project’s region of origin, which gained her loyal clientele. One of her clients stated that :”Marcy never pushes, nor does her ego interfere with her decorating. She has a great sense of color- I just knew to trust her instincts”.
Her great taste for fine art, but also deep understanding of the interior design’s classical rules, allows Masterson to create spaces perfectly tailored to the needs of their users. The designers is in love with colors and seems a little dismayed with modern fashion’s lack of them: ” [L]ook at us, we’re all in black. I don’t think people realize the power of color, the psychological effects, what it can do to one’s psyche”.
Her vast spectrum of services, ranging from apartments, major renovations to new constructions, is available all over USA and Europe.
