10 Insanely Cool Rooms That Started With a Bohemian Rug

A rug is the heart of every room – it helps to divide the space, bring in warmth and whatever pattern or color the decorator might need to make the décor complete. It is hardly surprising that leading designers strongly emphasize the importance of choosing the right floor covering. Interiors with a rug as the centerpiece are trending like crazy on Instagram and Pinterest, all the more we have the year of maximalism. Check out the following projects that caught our eye and discover how inspirational a rug as the foundation of the room really is.

Print Frenzy

If you’re a fan of colorful prints, you’ll definitely want to see this house in Scottsdale. Here, the carpet with floral pattern combined with colorful furniture and pillows creates a truly artistic oasis. Maximalism spills out from every corner, but thanks to the high ceiling and cream walls, eclecticism is kept in check and the colorful palette is not overwhelming.

Fair Deal

@oritarnon

When @diratili rented this place for the first time in Tel Aviv, it was in terrible condition. The decorator suggested a deal to the owner – she will rent, renovate and live in the apartment, if the owner covers around half of the renovation costs. This is the story of how this absolutely delightful kitchen came around. Blue kitchen cabinets correspond beautifully with a rug kept in a similar palette.

The owner of this house – stylist Sofie says that the trick when decorating interiors is not to think about each room individually. “Think about the whole house, the theme that goes through all the rooms,” he advises. Maximalism, animal motifs and contrasting color combinations reign in her home. The arrangement of the living room began with a Moroccan rug whose colorful diamonds inspired Sofie to create a somewhat ethnic climate.

Ethnic Charm

Again a Moroccan rug initiated a wave of inspiration. This time, however, it is a minimalist Beni Ourain, one of our ‘must haves’ when decorating the bedroom. Its ethnic character has been emphasized by linen in the color of grassy green, furniture made of wood with visible knots and a landscape on the wall. Despite the black walls, the interior looks bright and cozy – it owes this effect to a soft and bright carpet.

Oriental Treasure

@wildly.rooted

The first antique rug on our list – as you can see, oriental carpets work as well as Moroccan ones in maximalist interiors. Here, the living room is furnished based on a classic combination of white walls with a dark wooden floor, green potted plants and subtle palette reflecting the colors of the earth. The carpet organizes the space, thanks to which we can visually divide the living room into individual parts.

Recherché Balance

@denofhearts

This is a perfectly balanced room where the main attraction is a carpet with a central medallion. The oriental character is also emphasized by a seat, wooden accessories and a beautiful chest of drawers with a Moroccan-style openwork front. The picture on the wall and several exotic plants give the interior an interesting, slightly artistic dimension.

Bright Geometry

Another Moroccan carpet on our list. This time, it adorns the room maintained in a minimalist color palette of beige and white. Geometric patterns on the carpet are interestingly paired with a Sunburst mirror on the wall. The boho vibe (introduced by the carpet) is spiced up thanks to pillows with fringes and exotic potted plants. Nothing more nothing less!

Comfort Outdoors

Arrangement of the balcony is a must. This one is exceptionally richly decorated – soft textiles, flowers in pots, lamps and dream catchers create a unique atmosphere. However, it is the large Beni Ourain rug that makes this space as cozy as a bedroom with a fireplace. The carpet on the balcony is the fastest and the most effective way to arrange the balcony in such a way that it resembles another room.

Go Pink!

@studiodiy

We absolutely love the color combination of this kitchen. The pink kilim set the course – its shades are repeated on kitchen cabinets, accessories, tableware and shelves. Pastel pink is diversified with metallic gold additions, and the whole is balanced by white walls and countertops. A perfect place to create sweet pastries and desserts.

Frill Chill

@reems_design

The large and soft rug area makes this bedroom a promise of comfort and relaxation. But this is not all! The very appearance of the carpet makes you want to stay longer. Ethnic patterns have been successfully combined with textiles with frills and macramés in which potted plants float. The bohemian aura is complemented by the pastel wall gallery with interesting pictures referring thematically to the interior.
