Mid-century Björkered Rölakansmatta by Judith Johansson BB7359 7'6" × 9'5" $9,000

$9,000

A Swedish handwoven wool rug in flatweave rölakan technique, designed by Judith Johansson. Monogrammed JJ at one corner. Johansson was a prolific mid-century designer who with her husband, John, wove flat-weave rugs well into the 1980s. In 1938, Judith and John established their own weaving studio, JJ Vävatelje, in Knäred, in the county of S. Halland, Sweden. “Björkered” design inspired by withering birch leaves, in shades of fall foliage, mainly ambers and browns. Inspired by traditional Northern European crafts, culture, and nature, vintage Scandinavian rugs skillfully combine past with future.
