The world’s most famous burlesque artist, Dita Von Teese, purchased her Los Angeles home over 5 years ago and now she’s ready to reveal what hides behind its historical façade. During this time, Dita imbued the Tudor Revival Residence with a great deal of personality while preserving its original character. Although the work is still in progress, because the dynamite temptress doesn’t like to “finish everything” and enjoys “having projects,” the home really makes an impression and reflects the unique style of its proprietress. Take a journey to the vintage realm of Dita Von Teese and let yourself be seduced by its magical design.
The Entryway
One thing is certain and also fairly unsurprising – Dita is not a fan of plain white walls. She even calls them her “worst nightmare,” so if you see a neutral wall in Dita’s house, it means it’s currently undergoing some creative transformation. In her entryway, the tiger-hide fights for the spotlight with the stunning mural, inspired by pictures of a mural from a French gothic castle. The mysterious and a bit haunting painting of the forest on the wall sets the tone for the entire space and surprises with fantastic details hidden within its design, like spiders, mushrooms and snakes.
The Living Room
Dita receives her guests and takes important meetings in the living room so it was important that the room combined functionality and style. Full of color, antiques and stuffed animals (Von Teese, next to her passion for vintage, is also big on taxidermy), the place is absolutely mesmerizing. Our attention, however, was stolen by the Deco Chinese rug which occupies the center of the room and helps to bring all the miscellaneous décor elements together.

The Kitchen
“I wanted a sexy, womanly, grown-up kitchen,” says Von Teese, whose previous all-pink ‘50s-inspired kitchen was much photographed and quite the talk of the design world. “I fell in love with that AGA stove in that racing green, and just went from there. I brought in all my favorite greens—like a jade, a mint, a British racing green.” The lush green pairs nicely with the blue-and-red color scheme of the dining room, inspired by the bottle design of Dita’s favorite perfume, Lou Lou by Cacharel.
The Bedroom

The bedroom was inspired by the grand dames of the Hollywood Golden Age. “The bed was designed after a Mae West bed with mirrors,” Dita explains. “And the room was inspired by Jean Harlow’s bedroom in the movie Dinner at Eight.” The all-silver space is Von Teese’s version of minimalism which, however, ends when you enter the accessories closet, packed from top to bottom with hundreds of pairs of heels. I’m not a shopaholic,” says Von Teese. “It’s just that Christian Louboutin is one of my closest friends, so yeah…I have a lot of shoes.” She’s such a tease!
