Mid-Century Scandinavian Hand-Knotted Rug BB5454 5'7" Ã— 8'3" $15,000

$15,000

This vintage flatweave wool rug traces its origin back to the golden period of the Scandinavian rug weaving era of the mid 20th century. It bares the weaver’s initials at one end: AGS which stands for Anna-Greta Sjöqvist.

The traditional Swedish design was inspired by nature – the stylized flowers on a blue background represent a summer meadow. The onlulating blue line inside the ivory border represents a flowing river. The color palette is rich yet balanced, with the prevailing blue complemented by mustard, dusty pink, green and beige.

Carefully hand-woven of the finest wool by the very talented Anna-Greta Sjöqvist, this Swedish flatweave is distinguished by durability which allowed it to survive until present with minors signs of wear. If properly maintained, it will undoubtedly serve its owners for generations, bringing in the unmatched charm of Scandinavian crafts.
