This fabulous vintage carpet runner comes from the period when the art of Swedish design was in full bloom – the 1950s. According to Scandinavian philosophy, utilitarian objects should be as practical and beautiful as possible, and this runner is the perfect reflection of that assumption.

It is a Swedish flat weave, handmade of the finest wool and comprising extremely vivid colors which seem indifferent to the passage of time. Deep indigo, mustard, pastel pink, green and off-white, all kept in muted shades, beautifully harmonize with each other. The allover geometric pattern is Swedish to the core, or better to say – to the knot. Crosses, diamonds and stars are arranged in a way to form an extremely coherent design.

Although the antique carpet is indisputably Scandinavian, when looked at from a distance it may send a slightly Oriental vibe – probably thanks to the eight-pointed stars and eight-sided medallions, alluding to Turkish vintage rug motifs.
