This vintage rug was created circa 1930 in Vienna. This is how Art Deco style looks combined with Viennese elegance. The purple field displays a central oval yellow medallion rich decorated with flowers and wide stylized frame with flower-heads. At the corners there are Pharaoh images. The whole is surrounded by an unusually patterned border containing animal, flower and folk motifs. The composition is balanced and energetic – this European Deco rug is a unique example of Viennese rug craft.

The vintage Viennese Art Deco rug was carefully hand-knotted of high-quality wool in accordance with traditional techniques, thanks to which it still looks as if it just came down from the looms. If properly maintained, it will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.
