Vintage Swedish Rug BB4756 8'1" × 12'4" $15,000

Swedish rugs draw the eye not only thanks to their stunning designs, but also superb quality of their weave. Flat woven Swedish rugs are made by interlocking warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads. This results in a rug with no pile, making them much thinner than traditional rugs, but also lighter and much easier to maintain. Made with both practicality and beauty in mind, Swedish rugs can successfully fit into a large number of different styles, from modern to traditional.
This beautiful vintage Swedish rug was woven in the early 20th century, circa 1930.While initials present in the rug did not help us to find its weaver, the amount of attention that was paid to even the smallest of details suggest that this Swedish rug was woven by a true genius. The pattern of this piece contains a central field with a stripped zigzag pattern and horizontal bars. The whole is framed by a broad border with beige flower heads surrounded by a narrow stripe. Color palette of this piece contains mostly shades of burgundy, accompanied by gentler browns and beiges.
The size of this piece, 8’1″ × 12’4″ (246 × 376 cm), makes it a perfect choice for any type of interior, from bedroom to personal library. Vintage Swedish rugs allow us to take a peek into normally secluded world of traditional Scandinavian crafts and understand a bit more about the culture which created them. Here at Doris Leslie Blau we appreciate fine craftsmanship, which is why our Swedish rugs are 100% authentic .
