Doris Leslie Blau Collection Moroccan Handmade Wool Rug in Brown and Beige N11369 9'9" × 13'4" $13,000
$13,000
Although made in the 21st century, this Moroccan rug comprises all the greatest features of the North-African weaving craft. Its design heavily alludes to traditional Beni Ourain rugs which are characterized by the application of solely two colors, usually chocolate brown and beige or off-white, as well as simplicity of the pattern, which, except from being uncomplicated, is also very often intentionally ‘imperfect’. It all has a greater meaning since in Islamic culture the only perfection is represented by Allah, everything else should contain at least minute flaws. It explains the varying size of the geometric motifs and their seemingly random placement on the light background. This contemporary Moroccan rug is hand-knotted of the best quality wool which contributes to its resilience and durability. It will surely match both modern and classic interiors.
Moroccan rugs, in their variety of textures, colors, and designs have stood the test of time. They are a classic staple in both classic and modern interiors. Our modern Moroccan rugs are handmade by artisans in small, specialized workshops, following the centuries-old tradition. They are handmade of natural undyed wool or of wool colored with natural dyes. Their designs are either of vintage tribal inspiration or traditional with an original twist, designs exclusive to Doris Leslie Blau.
