1900s Turkish Hereke Dusty Rose and Burgundy Handmade Wool Carpet BB7274 10'8" × 16'4" $35,000

$35,000

A finely-woven early 20th century Turkish Hereke rug, the dusty rose field with dramatic flowers and leafy blossoms around a central flower with two enormous unusual burgundy pendants, which are linked to ivory spandrels within a burgundy vinery border.

The Middle East is historically known as a source of beautiful rugs, and Turkey is one of the most well-renowned sources of those rugs. Of particular interest are the Hereke rugs made in the small coastal town of Hereke, Turkey. Antique Hereke rugs are truly beautiful pieces of art, and it’s truly mind-boggling to think that so many beautiful pieces came from a single town.

Like many antique rugs, Hereke rugs feature subtle, muted colors that span the spectrum. They also feature intricate designs from edge to edge. Hereke rugs can range from small 6’x4′ Turkish kilim rugs that will cover a small piece of a room to massive, room-spanning 22’x14′ carpets.
