Doris Leslie Blau is honored to carter to the needs of Tokyo’s residents with our elegant antique rugs and contemporary carpets. We take a great pride in our gallery’s flexibility and in order to preserve it, DLB works tirelessly with local designers and artists.
Few places mix modern with tradition as well as Tokyo does. It is a city where skyscrapers and neon lights reside just next to ancient shrines or traditional gardens. Keeping up with the city’s busy lifestyle can pose a considerable challenge, but here at Doris Leslie Blau we are more than happy to accept it.
After all, the people of Tokyo are known for their diverse taste in beauty and our grandeur collection is exactly what many of them are looking for.
Seat of the Japanese government since 17th century, Tokyo always seems to be in the very center of attention. Although it is commonly referred as a city, it is in fact a complex structure consisting of 23 Special Wards of Tokyo, which are governed individually. Title of “metropolitan prefecture” is not an overemphasis, as Tokyo’s area is estimated to be a home of over 37 million people, making it the most populous metropolitan area in the whole world! Such a considerable population has a great cultural need and in that Tokyo never lets down. Those interested in traditional entertainment can watch a play at Kabuki theatre or take part in the Tea Ceremony in city’s numerous teahouses. People more interested its modern side will be delighted to visit wards such as Shibuya or Shinjuku, where party never ends!

Some of the world’s most interesting museums are located in here, such as Japan’s National Gallery in Ueno ward. As a global leader in fashion and design, Tokyo constantly changes and Doris Leslie Blau is proud to be a part of that change. Some of our most loyal clients are based in Tokyo and we are happy to serve them with both expert advice and great carpets! Doris Leslie Blau Gallery’s owner, Nader Bolour, is widely known as a talented designer and ingenious businessman. His family established the Bolour&Sons enterprise in the 1920’s in Iran and quickly gained recognition as one of the most distinguished rug dealers worldwide. The Bolours created Y&B Bolour in 1978, after moving their business to London, where Nader Bolour had his first meeting with Doris Leslie Blau, a great connoisseur of antique Oriental rugs. Few years later, when the two of them met again, they formed a partnership. Nader purchased Doris Leslie Blau Gallery in 1997.
Gallery’s great success on the antique and vintage rug market is due to its owner business sense, original thinking and, most importantly, immeasurable experience. With his finger constantly on the pulse of an ever-changing market and an unprecedented eye skilled in finding rare specimens, he instituted a new quality of the carpet dealership.
Apart from being an exquisite dealer of rugs, Nader Bolour is a designer himself, which can be easily seen in gallery’s broad range of custom carpets, made from best materials available for its demanding clientele. His designs are classical, yet contain hints of modernism. They combine the glory of the Orient with the freshness of contemporary influences. Nader Bolour’s love for rugs is reflected in the approach of his employees. Who would better understand the never-fading elegance of antique carpets if not the people who love them so dearly? Whether you seek a rug from Nader or you desire his original design, you can rest assured that he is prepared to deliver a bit of soul to your home.
Despite city’s love for modernity, Tokyo has a great love for antique carpets. Their elegance works wonderfully with simplistic forms of furniture seen in both apartments and offices. We are also prepared to carter to the needs of most demanding clients! By choosing to purchase a custom rug, you can create a piece of your dreams! In our gallery we sell carpets of the best quality, no matter their age or origins. We take a great pride in the diversity of Doris Leslie Blau’s collection of antique rugs, vintage and contemporary carpets, which find their admirers all over the world. If you happen to have any further questions considering shipping or making a purchase, our skilled staff will be more than happy to offer help!
