Extra Large Antique Persian Kirman Rug BB6126 16'6" × 24'9" $180,000
This circa-1920 antique Persian Karastan Kirman rug features an elaborate all-over design of floral motifs, arabesques, palmettes and curving vinery in shades of dark beige and blue against a field of light beige. The antique rug has a muted patina that is characteristic of classic Oriental rugs weaving. The main border of abrashed blue containing more flower abstractions surrounds and completes the look of the early 20th-century antique carpet.
Antique Kirman large area rugs sizes are sought-after collectors’ items for a number of reasons, including their broad range of designs, an elaborate palette, use of natural dyes and fibers, great tensile strength and expert color combinations. The rugs are typically cotton-foundation with high knot densities and frequently have intricate all-over floral patterns – as seen in this particular carpet. Golam Hussein, Sherefat Khan, and Arjomand are among the most well-known 20th century Kirman designers.
