Vintage Moroccan Narrow & Long Handmade Wool Runner BB5132 3'7" × 13'2" $12,000
$12,000
This vintage Moroccan runner rug features no guard or main borders. It is devoid of corner brackets or a more formal precious tapestry field design. This extended length Moroccan style rugs showcases no central medallion design. It features a lateral length multitude of horizontal and irregularly striped bands. Each shaggy layer band is a different earth tone hue color.
The layers are colored khaki, brown, deep clay and black. The top half of this antique rug runner depicts length wise, alternating layer bands. These length-wide layers stop at the middle, meeting a single checkered band of brown and khaki colored squares. The bottom half of the tapestry style transitions from the checkered band layer into four columns of irregular striped band layers. The ends of this oriental vintage carpet features light khaki colored fabric fringes.
Moroccan rugs are made in the five regions of Morocco: the Middle Atlas, the High Atlas, Rabat, Eastern Morocco and the Atlantic plains.
From versatile flatweaves to shaggy hand-knotted area rugs or runners, Moroccan rugs are both decorative and functional. They are valued for their technical qualities, expert use of fibers, great tensile strength, and abrasion resistance. Without a doubt, the original tribal Moroccan rugs from the Doris Leslie Blau collection bring character and a touch of worldliness to an interior.
