This antique handmade Irish Donegal rug dates back to circa 1900. Its color palette features beige, gray, green and orange, which make for an interesting and unique visual composition. In terms of design, one can see oriental influences on both the overall composition of and motifs featured in this rug. For example, the motifs in this rug closely resemble palmettes, medallions and botanical motifs used in Oriental carpets. In this instance, the motifs are large and distinct. Strictly speaking, however, the rug is made in the Arts and Crafts style.
