“Abyss” Natural Fibers Solid Blue Black Hand-Knotted Carpet N13082 7'0" × 7'0"

Abyss turns a solid modern rug into a study in depth, with a round silhouette cloaked in deep teal and blue-black shag. The hand woven surface shifts with the light, revealing dark charcoal shadows, cool blue notes, and softer green undertones as the pile moves.

Its name feels exact: the plush, swirling tufts evoke the mysterious stillness of an oceanic trench, giving the piece a quiet, almost submerged drama. Without border or motif, the composition relies on texture and tonal variation, allowing the circular form to read as sculptural rather than strict.

Designed for contemporary interiors, this circular rug brings softness and visual weight to a seating area, bedroom, or reading corner while keeping the palette restrained and sophisticated. The shaggy hand woven construction lends a relaxed, tactile presence that works beautifully in modern and organic modern schemes, especially where a single, nuanced color story is needed. It pairs especially well with low-slung upholstery, polished wood, or stone, where the dense pile softens hard edges and adds a moody counterpoint. The overall effect is refined, tactile, and quietly atmospheric.

Exclusively curated by Doris Leslie Blau, this rug exemplifies the balance of innovation, artistry, and enduring quality that defines the gallery’s approach to contemporary carpet design. The expansive Doris Leslie Blau collection includes pieces ranging from understated modern works to one-of-a-kind statement rugs.
