On June 4, the vintage rug company founded in 1965 as Doris Leslie Blau, and now known as DLB, will have a new home in a 1,600-square-foot shop on the sixth floor of ABC Carpet & Home in Manhattan. Formerly sold only to the trade, the rugs will now be within easy grasp of downtown designers and consumers. The first collection will include about 40 vintage and reproduction Swedish rugs from the 1930s to the 1950s, a genre that was a veritable secret to the trade when Nader Bolour, a third-generation antique rug dealer who is DLB’s owner and president, began buying examples three years ago. Now they are bringing up to $50,000 at auction. And what does Mr. Bolour’s crystal ball reveal about the next hot carpet? “Antique silk,” he pronounced.
