Design doyenne Bunny Williams is at it again, this time collaborating with antique carpet dealer and custom rug purveyor Doris Leslie Blau for a collection of 12 rugs. Each item in the Bunny Williams for Doris Leslie Blau collection is possesses a modernist aesthetic with a hint of traditional flair. The all-over patterns are stylized versions of classic motifs with colors that range from tone-on-tone neutrals and muted blues and greens to rich blues reminiscent of the Aegean Sea.
“Rugs are the magic of every room,” says Williams. “For me, they are where I begin every project. I choose a beautiful rug then select paint colors and fabrics that complement it. For years I have come to Doris Leslie Blau because I know they have rugs, both old and new, that a designer can really build a room around. When I began working on my own rug collection, there was no hesitation in my choice to collaborate with Nader Bolour and Doris Leslie Blau.”
The exclusive rug collection is a true reflection of the designer’s aesthetic and an expressive mix of hemp pile, cut pile, silk/wool blends, aloe/wool blends, looped pile and flat weaves.
“The collaboration was a very organic process and natural alliance. We have worked closely with Bunny on many different projects in the past,” explains Bolour of Doris Leslie Blau. “Whether in search of a traditional antique rug or a contemporary piece, she pairs each one with interesting combinations of fabrics and furniture. Her modern vision combined with a magnificent sense of history and tradition aligns perfectly with that of the Doris Leslie Blau brand.”
