Known as Uşak Kilimi, Oushak rugs are widely known thanks to their characteristic design, which was invented in the city of Uşak, Turkey, a major center for rugs since the early days of the Ottoman Empire. This antique rug is an heir to centuries of tradition and exceptional craftsmanship, unseen anywhere else. A stunning pattern was created with great precision, with numerous details adorning it. While the flowers seem to be its main motif, they were depicted in an original fashion – they seem to have been reduced to geometrical shapes on the rug’s surface. Such approach allowed to create a one of a kind composition, which could easily be imagined by a contemporary designer – a proof that the weaver thought way ahead of his time. Using deep scarlet, gold and white, the carpet seems to shine just like a precious jewel. Enticing and elegant, this Turkish rugs is everything one could ask for.
