Antique Spanish Rug BB8994 8'0" × 10'0" $22,000
$22,000
A rare and refined example of early 20th-century European textile art, this antique Spanish rug exudes elegance through its delicate coloration and sophisticated design. Hand-knotted in Spain circa 1920, it features a subtly stylized allover pattern of palmettes and abstract floral motifs arranged in symmetrical vertical rows. The border complements the field with a band of simplified botanical forms.
The color palette consists of soft ivory, pale yellow, pastel rose, and washed lavender with hints of light blue. These gentle tones combine to create a painterly, almost watercolor-like effect across the surface. The pile is wool, knotted using the symmetrical (Ghiordes) knot, typical of Spanish rug craftsmanship of the period.
Despite its age, the rug remains in very good condition with minimal wear. Its subdued tones and timeless design make it an excellent choice for both traditional and modern interiors. This piece stands out for its light abrash and subtle purple hues, offering a romantic touch that is not commonly seen in antique Spanish rugs.
Doris Leslie Blau offers an extensive selection of rugs, available across a wide range of prices to suit every budget.
