The vast region of North-West Persia encompasses parts of Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia thus rugs coming from this historical area are permeated with influences from many cultures, including Kazakh, Kurdish, Mughal or Armenian.
This antique North-West Persian runner was made circa 1920. Its main field carries stylized octagonal medallions that are known as Gul and are supposed to bring luck. The main field enclosed within a series of borders, the main of which is adorned with diamond-shaped medallions. The color palette features red, blue, brown and beige.
The runner was thoroughly hand-knotted of high-quality wool in accordance with centuries-old techniques by a skilled artisan. Due to such careful making it remains in excellent condition until this day. If provided a minimal amount of care, the Persian rug will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.
