$280,000
This carpet has been realised in 1925 during Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs for the bureau-bibliotheque of the French Embassy pavilion. This pavilion, decorated by the great artists such as Mallet-Stevens, Francis Jourdain, Pierre Chareau, Andre Groult and Jean Lurcat, is still famous because one part of the bureau-bibliotheque is preserved in teh Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.
The carpet features a grey field decorated with blue vermicellis and red dots. The central pattern is finished by an octogonal border. the spandrels are decorated with vegetal volutes in blue, grey, and mauve shades.
