Mid-20th Century Kilim Etno Labijar Handmade Wool Rug BB6519 5'1" × 8'9" $4,000
$4,000
Not many people need to be introduced to Turkish kilim rugs. Their beauty and uniqueness are known word wide and continue to charm both carpet aficionados and collectors. If you do not know why, just take a look at this exquisite piece. Woven by hand circa 1930, this antique rug pleases the eye with not only its pattern, but also complex color palette, undoubtedly put together with great care.
Earthy tones of brown, ranging from light to almost red, are balanced by elements of beige and black, resulting in a very warm and inviting composition. The pattern itself is mostly constructed of diamond-shaped figures, with a few elongated ones in the middle with smaller patterns inside them. The whole is crowned by a tasteful fringe at the top and bottom part of the vintage carpet.
A specialist rug dealer in oriental and western rugs and carpets, Doris Leslie Blau’s impressive collection of antique rugs include rare Turkish, Persian and Indian masterpieces, many of which date back to the Medieval Age. Some of these rugs are so rare that no more than a few exist in the entire world.
