$50,000
This glorious antique carpet makes the culture and history of Persia come alive. It was created in the workshop of the great Ustadan Mohtashem, an expert weaver, who has manufactured some of the finest and awe-inspiring pieces ever to come out of human hands. Its highly decorative pile proudly carries an allover lattice of medallions containing iconic Persian patterns such as palmettes, flower trellis, trees of life and vases – all intricately executed and saturated with symbolism. The equally compelling borders build on the roundels with Shah Abbas and tiny flower heads, all connected with a graceful ribbon adorned with even more flowery motifs.
The color rug palette was clearly selected by the hand of a master – the prevailing ivory and sage tones are invigorated by pale brick red and given depth thanks to the jewel-like navy blue which resides both in some of the medallions of the main field and in the main border. This pure excellence was masterfully hand-crafted of the finest wool in old and refined weaving techniques by a skilled artisan. Due to such making, this antique Persian rug patterns has survived since the 19th century in perfect condition and will serve its owners for many years to come. The pile exhibits a phenomenon known as Abrash – a natural and variable change of colors which occurs due to the application of natural dyes.
This Kashan rug genuine weaving wonder is not only a beautiful utilitarian object but most importantly a precious piece of history enclosed within the intertwining warp and weft. It is an option for all lovers of timeless beauty and never fading elegance.
