$95,000
Antique Persian Tabriz Rug, Origin: Persia, Circa: 1920. An early 20th century Persian carpet. Here we have a genuine beauty from Tabriz, one of the most dynamic weaving centers of Persia. This particular Antique Persian Rug’s excellent craftsmanship strikes us on so many levels, just to begin with the quality of finely hand-woven, high knot density in short pile, elaborate floral motifs and remarkable colors.
The inspiration for the main field of this stunning antique carpet must have been drawn from field plants – roses interwoven with vines, leaves and serpents of plant roots – all in blue, taupe and brown natural shades. Flower petals colored in blue (from deep navy blue to pale blue and grey) with insides of flowers and their seeds highlighted in warm taupe are symmetrically organized in herati patterns and carefully distributed over a dusty blush rose background.
Whereas in the main border, embracing the carpet, we encounter the switch of colors. Now the background is as deep navy as the night sky and plants with flowers, stalks and roots are presented in blush rose tones. This unusual color palette brings to mind a summer night over a field of dried wild flowers. When you have this stunning and elegant groups of colors integrated into patterns of one luxurious rug, the possibilities are endless!
