The vast region of North-West Persia encompasses parts of Iran, Azerbaijan and Armenia thus rugs coming from this historical area are permeated with influences from many cultures, including Kazakh, Kurdish, Mughal or Armenian. This antique North-West Persian runner was made circa 1880. Its midnight blue field carries a colorful lattice formed of enlarged angular vines and containing primitive floral motifs within a light red border with abstract vinery and floral motifs. The rug was thoroughly hand-knotted of high-quality wool in accordance with centuries-old techniques by a skilled artisan. Due to such careful making, it remains in excellent condition until this day. If maintained properly, the Persian rug will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.
