Vintage Swedish Flat Woven Rug by Barbro Nilsson BB8041 6'9" × 10'0" $40,000

A mid-century Swedish flat-weave wool rug by Barbro Nilsson with woven initials (BN) at a corner. It is in excellent original condition, consistent with age. The composition alternates large and small geometric shapes in shades of lavender, purple, blue, beige and yellow. The composition is ended along shorter sides with long-tassels.

Barbro Nilsson became the director of the weaving workshop established by Märta Måås-Fjetterström in Sweden, in 1919. He continued her legacy upon her death, developing original patterns blending folk and traditional handicrafts with Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles.
