This exceptional vintage Swedish rug designed by the great Marianne Richter AB MMF with woven initials (MR) at a corner dating back to circa 1945 reflects the quintessence of Scandinavian craftsmanship. The abrashed field features an all-over checkerboard pattern comprised of squares and cubes decorated with vertical bands of stacked arrows. Imbued with a night sky colorway, the rich waves of abrash of painterly-like brush strokes and softly gradated striations run selvage to selvage blending seamlessly from one to the next. The amalgamation of deep blue, light blue and purple colors harmonize one another, creating the perfect design and emanating function and versatility. Beautiful fringe on the vintage rug’s top and bottom part is a nice finishing touch, which gives it even more charm.
