10'4" × 13'10"
A fine wool rug, hand-knotted in the Austrian Empire at the turn of the 20th century.
Distinguished by flowing forms combining architectural elements with natural elements, this vintage Viennese Art Nouveau rug is a marvelous hallmark of its époque. Its curvilinear main field carrying a stylized design with botanical motifs is enclosed within a decorative cartouche. The borders are adorned with a fret pattern and four corner spandrels. Although quite rich, the composition has a palpable lightness to it.
It features a sophisticated color palette, in dusty sage-green with honey and rose details. Versatile and balanced, this rare rug would effortlessly complement both classic and even modern décors.
