There are few things that can match the high quality and profound artistic sensitivity of oriental craft. Although presently made, this magnificent traditional-inspired Oushak rug remains in complete accordance with Turkish weaving art.
Its main field is embellished with a perfectly organized pattern featuring classic Middle-Eastern boteh motifs. Boteh, also known as “buta” or “paisley” is an almond or pine cone-shaped motif in ornament with a sharp-curved upper end. Though probably of Persian origin, it is very common in India, Azerbaijan, Turkey and other countries of the Near East. The composition is complemented by botanical motifs, referring to the famous in rug design Tree of Life. Everything is enclosed within a series of equally compelling borders, adorned with flowering vines and palmettes. The tranquil and stylish color palette of beige, dusty green, blue, with invigorating touches of red, makes this Oushak design rug applicable in practically every décor.
The piece was thoroughly hand-knotted of the finest wool by a skilled artisan which not only provided the unique appearance but also durability. If properly maintained, this oriental rug will serve its owners many years, bringing in comfort, chic and palatial aura.
Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of original modern rugs in many styles and materials. Contemporary hand-made rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization.
