Doris Leslie Blau Collection Tribal Style Modern Moroccan Wool Area Rug N12124 9'9" × 14'0" $14,000
$14,000
This Moroccan rug combines modernity and tradition – it is a contemporary interpretation of the classic Beni Ourain style. Beni Ourains are iconic shaggy rugs produced by nomadic tribes from the area of the Rif Mountains near Taza. They vary in style but their common denominator is simplicity and directness.
The off-white pile of this geometric Moroccan rug is crossed by vertical and horizontal black pile-less lines. The lines form a design that brings to mind paintings of famous abstractionist Mondrian but in a monochromatic version. The composition is finished with a selvage and tassels at the shorter edges of the rug.
The rug was carefully hand-knotted of high-quality wool in accordance with traditional techniques by a skilled artisan. Thanks to such a high standard of workmanship, it is soft, durable and unique. Under the condition of proper maintenance, it will serve many years without any signs of wear.
Moroccan rugs, in their variety of textures, colors, and designs have stood the test of time. They are a classic staple in both classic and modern interiors. Our modern Moroccan rugs are handmade by artisans in small, specialized workshops, following the centuries-old tradition. They are handmade of natural undyed wool or of wool colored with natural dyes. Their designs are either of vintage tribal inspiration or traditional with an original twist, designs exclusive to Doris Leslie Blau.
