Contemporary Swedish Rugs are a real treat not only for interior designers, but also collectors. Unique designs and superb craftsmanship of Swedish rugs make them a very popular choice amongst our clients, and this is why our talented crew pays close attention to every carpet that comes through our New York City Gallery. As all contemporary rugs, this piece was made for those, who can appreciate modern decor, but also long for a bit of traditional charm.
Hand-knotted with great care, this contemporary Swedish rug was made using the highest quality wool, which ensured both its delightful texture and unrivaled quality. Swedish carpets are known for their wonderful shaggy piles and the softness of this one is not going to disappoint. The chequered pattern depicted on the pile, while appropriately modern for a contemporary rug, references classic geometric motifs seen in Swedish vintage rugs. Symmetrical squares were put together in such a way in order to ensure a balance between their wonderful hues. Color palette of this Swedish rug was composed using mostly different shades of blue with a bit of violet on the side. Lavender, indigo, baby and steel blue mix together perfectly .
Size of this contemporary Swedish rug, 2’8″ × 4’10″ (81 × 147 cm), makes it a perfect choice for any type of interior, even the small ones! The balance between carpet’s pattern and colors will be welcomed by those who look for calmer elements to decorate their household with.”
Mid-century Swedish inspired rug made in India.
Doris Leslie Blau carries an exceptional collection of modern rugs inspired by mid-century Swedish designs. We stay true to the legendary tradition of Scandinavian craftsmanship by hand-weaving flatweave wool Rölakan rugs and wool pile Rya rugs that are very close in looks and feel to the original ones. Contemporary hand-made rugs are a bridge throughout history, they are the fruit of the constant evolution of the weaving craft that has accompanied men since the dawn of civilization.
