European Inspired Bassarabian Rug N11388 10'0" × 12'3" $13,000
$13,000
This modern rug constitutes an exceptionally interesting mix of styles and aesthetics. Within its intertwining warp and weft, the piece combines two faces of Europe – western and eastern. Although presently made, the new carpet relies on traditional manual craft of Bessarabia and equally classic design, drawn from the ages-old French weaving centers of Aubusson and Savonnerie, yet still permeated with a distinct Eastern-European vibe.
The European-inspired Bessarabian rug carries a rich and slightly eclectic design. The central architectural medallion occupying the main field is surrounded by florals, ribbons, whimsical bird motifs inscribed into decorative cartouches, as well as four corner spandrels. Everything is enclosed within a matching and equally ornamental border with further flowers and ribbons. The gentle color palette maintained in pastel tones of beige, rose, pale green and warm brown balances the abundance of motifs, at the same emphasizing the subtle and feminine character of the modern rug.
This European-inspired Bessarabian carpet was carefully hand-knotted of wool by a proficient artisan. In terms of execution, being faithful to tradition always pays off. Due to such thorough making, this contemporary rug has a chance to withstand years of usage without any signs of blemish, if properly cared for. It is a piece of present-day weaving art that will leave no passerby indifferent.
