Authentic 19th Century Turkish Oushak Rug BB7504 12'0" × 15'8" $70,000
$70,000
A late 19th century antique Turkish Oushak rug, the maize field with angular floral motifs around a central medallion and a pair of apricot cartouches, framed by bold spandrels with stylized floral motifs within a maize stylized floral motif border.
The majority of antique Oushak rugs is characterized by relatively loose knots giving them a supple body, and a fairly long, luminous pile which can be attributed to silky, high-quality wool they work with. The most popular designs of oriental beautiful rugs i.e. ‘star’ and ‘medallion’ originated in Uşak. In terms of coloration, the dyes tend towards cinnamons, terracotta tints, gold, blues, greens, ivory, saffron and grays. The monumental scale, relaxed structure and playful palette of Turkish rugs for sale ensure that they remain a favorite within the pantheon of decorative antique oriental rugs.
