$45,000
An early 20th century antique Turkish Oushak rug, Circa: 1920. Rugs from Oushak are renowned throughout the world, thanks to the unique technique used in their weaving process. Complicated patterns require the best quality of wool and a high knot density. This beautiful piece is composed of eggnog-colored ornaments lying glamorously on a royal red background. The central plain is adorned with Shah Abbas, an oriental lotus motif, along with Göl-the most traditional Turkish rug pattern, representing a hexagonal or octagonal medallion. Göl is a symbolic representation of an elephant footprint, and was often used as a heraldic emblem among Anatolian carpet manufacturers. The borders are neatly finished with medallions interwoven into a leafy arabesque. This pile-weave wonder creates the atmosphere of oriental luxury.
