$25,000
Antique oriental carpets from Oushak have been represented among the carefully chosen and highly esteemed objects d’art in the studied interiors and still life paintings of important European personages since the 16th century, as depicted by such artists as Holbein, Lotto, Velasquez, Memling or Vermeer. This rug, created circa 1930, is an authentic example of Oushak craft.
The main field of the Turkish rug carries a design where the main theme is the Tree of Life. Tree motifs are accompanied by palmettes and florals. The series of borders with floral and geometric motifs encloses the main field. Everything is rendered in teal, beige, pink, orange and red.
This antique Oushak rug was carefully hand-woven using Ghiordes knot of high-quality wool by a skilled artisan which ensured its durability. Provided it is properly cared for, the rug will serve its owners for generations without any signs of wear.
