Vintage Tribal Hand-knotted Natural Wool Moroccan Area Rug BB5486 6'2" × 13'8" $6,000
$6,000
This vintage Moroccan rug beautifully combines ethnic art with minimalist aesthetics, worthy of the 20th-century Modernists. Its face carries a simple tribal design, characteristic of Beni Ourain tribes inhabiting the Rif Mountains near Taza. The grid of diamond motifs is supposed to protect the rug’s owner from the Evil Eye. The motifs appear a bit lax but such was the intention of the weaver – tribal craftsmen believe that only God is perfect and the works that come out from under the hands of men are always flawed – by making the pattern imperfect, the weavers try to show humility. This classy piece is versatile due to its balanced color palette of earthy tones, featuring brown, beige and white. Everything is complemented by a lovely fringe at the shorter edges.
On top of beautiful appearance, this vintage Moroccan rug can boast of refined workmanship. The vintage rug was carefully hand-knotted of the finest wool in accordance with centuries-old techniques. If properly maintained, this piece of Moroccan art will withstand years of usage without any signs of blemish.
