Vintage Swedish Flat Weave Rug Signed by Anne Marie Boberg BB6552 4'6" × 6'9" $2,000
$2,000
Artist Anne-Marie Boberg was an influential weaver and designer in mid-20th century Sweden. Her distinctive designs inspired many and continue to do so, as her genius lives on in the Scandinavian wool rugs she created. This piece, woven circa 1960, is one of them. What draws the eye is its stunning pattern, very elegant despite or maybe because of its simplicity. While the central field remains empty, the border features beautiful tulips in full bloom creating a very traditional yet innovative composition. The color palette picked by Boberg is not without meaning here. The beige background helps the pastel shades of pink, orange and green to pop out, just like in real life flowers. Such an exquisite antique rug will be a wonderful addition to any household.
Vintage rugs – they are essential objects of desire of not only vintage trend followers but all aficionados of beauty and sublime design. There is a good reason for such vast recognition as vintage rugs constitute the core of taste and artistry of the 20th century progressive thought.
