A handmade Swedish Rya wool rug with a cozy pile from the mid 20th century. It is in excellent original condition, consistent with age. It displays an allover rectangular design in different hues of yellow with little brown.

Its style – Rya – was developed many centuries ago in Scandinavia to protect the people, especially the mariners living off the sea, from the harsh weather conditions. The first Ryas were modeled on natural animal fur, hence they are characterized by an exceptionally shaggy, long pile.
