Midcentury Swedish Beige, Brown, Olive and Yellow Rug Signed by Ingegerd Silow BB6558 5'6" × 7'8" $8,000

$8,000

Both master weaver and talented designer, Ingegerd Silow was for a longtime involved in the development and popularization of Swedish weaving. Despite her death in 2005, Silow’s legacy lives on in numerous vintage area rugs she wove and endorsed.

This stunning Swedish flat weave rug, made circa 1950, immediately catches the eye with its original design and beautiful palette. The choice of hues is very interesting, as it features a lot of darker shades – blacks, browns and dark greens are intertwined with cheerful yellow and beige, creating a very original and modern composition.

The pattern itself is also exquisite – seemingly simple, it features many different layers. Light-colored squares adorned with small spots of color decorate the surface like jewels. Straight lines connecting them help to anchor the design and organize it so that viewer won’t get distracted by different colors accompanying each other. A fringe decorating the top and bottom edge of the antique carpet is a nice finishing touch which fans of vintage decor are bound to love.

Vintage rugs – they are essential objects of desire of not only vintage trend followers but all aficionados of beauty and sublime design.
