Vintage Swedish Flat Weave Rug by Ingegerd Silow, Origin: Sweden, Circa: 1945 This mid-20th century Swedish flat weave rug is an exquisite example of Scandinavian textile design. Imaginative folk-art patterns, that incorporate ethnic influences from many sources are evident in presented rug and in all the wide variety of works by Ingegerd Silow. Based on her travels and studies in Sweden, Denmark, USA and Mexico, Silow developed her own eclectic style, which is evident in this particular carpet example. Here the repetitive patterns and geometric floral motifs are arranged by constant symmetrical mirroring of the image in both vertical and horizontal directions. Eye shaped yellow and green diamonds, running through the center of the rug fold out into geometrical arrow motifs in beige, grey and blue, all placed on the coffee brown background, framed by the border in a darker shade of brown. Featured here Scandinavian rug is a true piece of art.
