Vintage Swedish flat weave rug signed by Ingegerd Silow BB6546 4'6" × 6'7" $7,000
$7,000
A great dame of Swedish weaving art, Ingegerd Silow was not only a talented craftswoman, but also a curator of local art. Her efforts to make Swedish flat weave rugs popular had a tremendous impact on the world of interior design, resulting in new vintage area rugs appearing, just like this one. The piece was woven circa 1950 and bears the unmistakable signature of Silow herself. Both the design and color palette coexist in perfect balance, resulting in a truly unforgettable composition. The central field of the area rug remains empty, save for a few horizontal lines dividing it into equal parts. The border features minimalist forms of geometric figures, a popular subject of Swedish antique rugs. The carpet’s color palette is composed of calm shades of beige with just a tiny bit of brown.
