Ingegerd Silow is known far and wide as not only a talented designer, but also a great lover of Swedish culture and craft. Silow devoted her life to antique carpet weaving, and as a result created numerous stunning pieces. This particular carpet, bearing the signature of Silow herself, is a great example of what is best in vintage Swedish rugs. Woven circa 1950 using the best materials available, it draws the eye with original design and charming color palette. The pattern might look very minimalist, but the way it was planned shows the genius of its designer. Three rows of stretched crosses divide the central field into equal parts, further decorated by smaller geometric figures. The choice of colors for those vintage rugs is rather interesting – cool blues juxtaposed with warmer tones of brown and beige create a truly fascinating mix.
