Swedish Flat Weave by Marianne Richter BB6323 5'1" × 6'7" $20,000

$20,000

This exceptional flat-weave was created by a brilliant Swedish designer, Marianne Richter, who worked as the artistic director in the legendary workshop of Marta Maas-Fjetterstrom. Richter, who is responsible for some of the most iconic pieces of Scandinavian textile art, crafted this amazing rug with patience and respect to Scandinavian nature and design philosophy which assumes that utilitarian objects should be practical, functional, simple, qualitative and beautiful. Its field and borders are teeming with deep forest hues, including moss, hunter green, blueberry and dark brown. The abstract design, through geometric shapes and simple forms, reflects the breathtaking natural surroundings of Sweden. Diagonal stripes, dotted frames and diamond borders together create a dynamic yet extremely balanced composition which is venerable and lively like a dense, fragrant wild forest. This remarkable Swedish rug was masterfully hand-knotted of the first-rate wool in accordance with old and refined weaving techniques by a skilled artisan. Due to such thorough making, this mid-20th century piece has survived until this day in perfect condition and will serve its lucky owners for many generations without any signs of blemish. The flat-weave will be perfect for all kinds of interior arrangements, from classic to modern. It has a chance to introduce some of its freshness and simplistic charm into any home.
