Ingerd Silow was one of the most famous figures of Swedish weaving art. Seeing this vintage rug, one begins to understands why. The pattern astonishes with its almost perfect symmetry, reflecting the care and skill with which it was made. Star-like shapes in rug’s corners anchor the whole composition in one place, allowing smaller ones to dance on its frame. Silow’s juxtaposition of brown and teal is both elegant and unusual. Topped with light green in the middle as well as hints of blue and mustard yellow at the sides, this Swedish antique carpet has a rather cool palette, which will brilliantly highlight warmer hues.
