Vintage French Art Deco Rug BB7530 8'2" × 11'2" $65,000

$65,000

An early 20th century French Art Deco antique rug, the abstract purple geometric square border around a contrasting brown centerpiece with attenuated yellow-trimmed polka dot palmettes in a frame of playful polychrome floral motifs. The pattern of this area rug suggests that it may have been designed by Maurice Dufrene (1876-1955), a French decorator and designer who created similar rugs in the 1920’s.

A specialist rug dealer in oriental and western vintage looking rugs and carpets, Doris Leslie Blau’s impressive collection of antique rugs include rare Turkish, Persian and Indian masterpieces, many of which date back to the Medieval Age. Some of these European Art Deco rugs are so rare that no more than a few exist in the entire world.
