Its style – Rya – derives from the earliest type of Northern rugs that where modeled on natural animal fur and developed in order to protect people, especially the mariners living off the sea, from the harsh climatic conditions. In terms of shagginess and softness of the pile, Ryas are practically second to none. This one is masterly hand-executed of the finest wool in accordance with old and refined techniques, reaching back to the middle ages. Yet, its pattern is completely settled in the 50s’ aesthetic standards.
