Thomas Jayne

Designer and scholar Thomas Jayne creates interiors that reflect his passion and wide-ranging knowledge of classical traditions. His work seeks to further those traditions and highlight what is relevant to interior design today. His rooms take inspiration from the past, yet feel fresh and modern.

Jayne’s broad-based knowledge was gained from an exceptional and extensive education in architecture, art history and decorative arts. He holds a Master’s degree in American Architecture and Decorative Arts from the Winterthur Museum program and a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Architecture and Allied Arts at the University of Oregon.

He has completed fellowships at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the J.Paul Getty Museum. He was an intern in the decorative arts department of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Smithsonian Institution and served as an appraiser at Christie’s Auction House. He has also worked at several of the most influential design firms such as Parish-Hadley& Associates and Kevin McNamara, Inc., before starting his own firm in 1990.
