This vintage carpet bag was created according to the ideals of Arts and Crafts movement, which was a reaction against a decline in standards of craftsmanship spoiled by the machine production of goods. One will not find mediocrity in this piece of art. The hand knot is firm and masterful, whereas the pile is made of the best quality wool. Anti-industrial design of this Arts and Crafts carpet comprises of flower motifs, alluding to Japanese natural aesthetics. Maintained in pastel shades of dusty pink, blue and taupe, the color palette has a soothing, calming effect on the viewer. When placed in an interior the antique rug has the power of filling the space with serenity.

The Arts and Crafts movement in England was initiated by William Morris during the 1870’s.
