Antique Persian Meshad Rug (size Adjusted) BB5975
Antique Persian Meshad Rug (size Adjusted) Description:
This circa-1920 antique Persian Meshad rug features an all-over design of beige floral motifs and abstractions, as well as common staples of Oriental oversized area rug weaving such as the boteh and the herati pattern against an abrashed dark brown field. A thick main border containing geometric abstractions completes the look of the antique early 20th century carpet. The rug comes from Meshad, the administrative seat of the Khorassan province throughout the centuries, and home to many well-known Oriental rug workshops.
The towns of Amoghli, Khamenei, Makhmalbaf, Saber and Zarbaf produced antique kilim rugs that feature both symmetrical and asymmetrical knots, as well as multiple borders with eclectic color palettes. Designs are based on classical models and feature color schemes ranging from traditional burgundies and midnight blues to the more contemporary tints of ice blue and beige.
