Doris Leslie Blau Collection Moroccan Geometric Black, White Handmade Wool Rug N11350 10'1" × 14'6" $12,000
$12,000
This black and white Moroccan rug was inspired by the traditional Moroccan weaving craft, passed from generation to generation by indigenous tribes. Hand-knotted from high quality wool, the carpet in NYC has an interesting yet simple pattern. Geometrical shapes with small dots in the center repeating all over its surface are similar to those seen on vintage modern carpets for living room from 1950’s and 60’s. While their true meaning is unknown, it might be speculated that they represent a Goz, symbol which was supposed to protect its owner from the “evil eye”. Whether it’s true or not, the pattern itself is gorgeous in its simplicity, not entirely minimalistic, but also not overbearing. Kept in two basic shades of white and black, it creates a calm and balanced composition. A tribute to the culture of Morocco with a modern twist, it’s a perfect addition to almost any kind of interior.
